StockGarden is the outgrowth of years of study, research and development, pursued by Mr. Robert F. Russell.  Mr. Russell, founder and CEO of StockGarden, first became interested in the performance of the stock markets, and in investment methodologies, as a youngster pursuing a formal education, as an undergraduate at the University of Texas in Austin.  During those years, he studied mathematics intensively and extensively, with special emphasis upon coursework in accounting, probabilities, and statistics.  This early experience and study provided a substantial foundation for further study, further education, and more mature experience.

Mr. Russell has devoted a lifetime of study to the history of the investment markets, to analyses of technical trends, to professional management procedures, to changing marketing practices, to the fundamentals essential to sound investing.  He is neither a licensed stockbroker, nor a financial planner.  His interests led him in a different direction.  One cannot become a successful leader in this field without direct experience as an investor.  Mr. Russell has many years of investment experience.  Like most experienced investors, he has suffered setbacks, and has paid the price of learning costly lessons.  From what those lessons taught him, he has also, like others, achieved many outstanding successes, and has developed numerous strategies to minimize loss.  His abilities in technical aspects of investing were quickly developed, aided him substantially, and tended to allow him to produce results that improved over time.  Those abilities and efforts led him to his current practice.

Mr. Russell has progressed from being an almost pure technician to become an investor who has developed a broader methodology, one that encompasses not only an astute grasp of the technical aspects of investing--and how they should be applied--but also one that employs procedures that yield accurate valuations of individual stocks, a methodology that is focused upon only the most fundamentally healthy companies.
